What are the 3 divisions of the GI tract?

A

Foregut:
distal end of the esophagus, the stomach, and a portion of the duodenum. In addition, the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder form embryologically from the foregut

Midgut:
duodenum distal to the ampulla of Vater, the jejunum, ileum, cecum, ascending colon, and foremost two-thirds of the transverse colon

Hindgut:
The hindgut consists of the distal half of the transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid colon, and the proximal third of the rectum.
