Tutorial 4: Cells And Tissues Flashcards
Types of epithelial cells and locations where found
Simple squamous epithelium: capalliries and aveoli
Simple cuboidal epithelium : salivary glands, thyroid follicles, kidney tubules
Simple columnar epithelium : digestive tract
Stratified squamous epithelium: outer layer of skin, inner lining of mouth and oesophagus
Pseudostratified ciliated epithelium : respiratory tract and trachea
Transitional epithelium : organs of urinary system
Connective tissue examples and locations
Blood
Areolar tissue: skin and mucous membrane blood vessels and nerve
Adipose tissues: (fat) beneath skin and around internal organs and bone marrow and inter muscular system and breast tissue
Hyaline cartridge : ribs, nose, larynx and trachea and bronchi and on bone surfaces
Compact bone : hard skeleton
Muscle tissue examples and locations
Skeletal muscle : attached to bones by tendons
Cardiac muscle cells : heart
Smooth muscle cells: circulatory system and digestive system
Nervous tissue
Neurone or nerve cell
