What is considered a simple repair?
- all pieces present
- pieces can be located together
How do you complete a simple repair?
- no appointment necessary
- disinfect and send dentures to lab
- no impression required
How do you fix a denture with a piece missing?
Take impression in mouth with denture in situ and send to lab
How do you fix a missing acrylic tooth?
- if patient has tooth no impression or appointment required
- if patient does not have tooth must communicate with lab as may be difficult to match shade and mould
What can be added to dentures to improve strength?
- wire mesh
- glass fibre mesh
- stainless steel wire in lower
What are the different types of denture addition?
- immediate
- post-immediate
- retention
What is an immediate addition?
- when a tooth is lost after denture construction and tooth is added on day of extraction
- impression with denture in place and tooth to be extracted
What is a post-immediate addition?
- when a tooth is lost after denture construction and tooth is added at a later date
- impression with denture in place and extraction socket
What is a retention addition?
When denture retention is inadequate a clasp is added to improve retention (wrought stainless steel to acrylic denture)
