Tuesday - dirty d - antibodies Flashcards
which peak on an antibody serum gel has the most antibodies in it?
Gamma peak, which migrates the furthest. They are very big in size i guess
low albumin means what
malnutrition, possibly liver disease (thats where the albumin comes from)
What disease shows a sharp gamma peak increase
multiple myelomas (its called an m peak
valence of IgG IgA IgM surface IgM on naive b cell Fab? F(ab')2? Variable light chain?
IgG - 2
IgA- 4
IgM - in theory its 10, in practice it is about 5 because of puckering
surface igm - 2
Fab - 1
F(ab’)2 - 2
Variable light chain - 0 (variable light and variable heavy both have 0 - they have to be used together to bind)
is lambda part of heavy or light chain?
kappa?
light
light
What chain is the variable region on?
heavy?
RAG 1 and RAG 2
bind to J and D regions and splices DNA of variable regions of antibodies.
if you dont have this its called omenn syndrome. (you can’t make t cell or b cell receptors)
What “part” of the DNA does NOT participate in making a light chain?
the “D” region.
dirty D is not light.
look at the slides about Ig’s from the second set of lectures
k
What is meant by allotypic exclusion
you only express either your fathers or your mothers gene at one time
What types of white blood cells undergo “somatic hypermutation”
B cells.
T cells do not
B cell proliferative cytokines
IL-2,4,5
