clinical syndreom rapdily developing clincial signs focal [or global in coma] disturbance cerebral function lasting more than 24 hours or leading to death with no apparaent cause other than vascular

Describe the vasculature of the brain
A
Anterior cerebral artery supplies the anteromedial part of the brain
MCA supplies the lateral part of the brain
PCA supplies the posterior and inferior part of the brain

Sx of anterior circulation infarction
A
Contralateral weakness, contralateral sensory loss, dysarthria, dysphasia, homonymous hemianopia, higher cortical dysfunction

Sx of posterior circulation infarction
A
Cranial nerve palsy and contralateral motor/sensory deficit
