TUBULAR DISORDERS Flashcards
TUBULAR DISORDERS
Acute tubular necrosis
Fanconi syndrome
Diabetes insipidus
Renal glucosuria
ACUTE TUBULAR NECROSIS
- Affected part
- Cause
- Damage to renal tubular cells
2. Ischemia or toxic agents
FINDINGS IN ACUTE TUBULAR NECROSIS
Microscopic hematuria
Proteinuria
RTE cells, RTE casts
Hyaline, granular, waxy, and broad casts
ETIOLOGY: Fanconi Syndrome
Generalized failure of tubular reabsorption in the PCT
NEUROGENIC vs NEPHROGENIC DI
NEUROGENIC - failure of the hypothalamus to produce ADH
NEPHROGENIC - renal tubules fail to respond to ADH
FINDING IN DIABETES INSIPIDUS
Low sepcific gravity
Polyuria (>15L/day)
ETIOLOGY: Renal Glucosuria
Defective tubular reabsorption of glucose
FINDING IN REANL GLUCOSURIA
Glucosuria (Normal blood glucose, increased urine glucose)
