What is Tuberculosis?
a major 20th-century killer, long-term epidemic
mycobacterium tuberculosis can affect any organ
spread through close conditions due to poor ventilation and bad air pollution did not help
can be acute or latent
Symptoms: shortness of breath, blood filed phlegm, paleness, a belief that it was passed down genetically
what is mycobacterium bovis?
spread from cattle to humans in the Americas through food contamination.
TB tie to culture
some thought that it was a psychological disorder
looking pale and blush was fashionable, people liked the way the symptoms looked
how did cases of TB decline?
cases declined due to improvement of nutrition and the creation of antibiotics
