Subjunctive usually occurs when (three things)
1) Sentence w/ main and dependent clause, connected by “que”
2) Subject of dependent clause different from main clause
3) Main clause contains impersonal expression

W: Wish / want E: Emotion D: Doubt / denial D: Desire / hope I: Impersonal expression & influence N: Negative opinion / non-existence G: God will and "gustar" type verbs
To form a subjunctive verb
1) Start with “yo” form of verb
2) Add “opposite” ending:
- ar verbs: -e, -es, -e, -emos, -en
- er/-ir verbs: -a, -as, -a, -amos, -an
Subjunctive: -ger and -gir endings
g -> j
escoger -> escoja, escojas, escoja, escojamos, escojan
Subjunctive: -car, -gar, -c endings
-car -> qu
explicar -> explique, expliques, etc.
-gar -> gu
llegar -> llegue, llegues, etc.
-z -> c
empezar -> empiece, empieces, etc.
