Trunk , Lower Back And abdomen Test Flashcards
Vocal Fremitus Test
To asses: Area of brochail congestion dt emphysema or chronic brochitis
Client: Prone- hands on Thorax and move around - client repeat nasal word like Ninety -nine- palpate the vibration
-asses area over the lungs
Positive: vibration is decreased over the lung comgested dt infected mucus
Mediate percussion test
To asses : Lung density esp person with mucus congestion
Client: Prone then supine - place middle Finger of non-dominant hand flat on thorax along Intercostal- with tips of First and second of dominant hand - tap firmly on finger positioned on thorax - repeat the tapping various area on thorax - tapping produces a sound varies on density of tissue
Positive: sound Duller over area of congestion the more resonant over Hyperinflated lungs
Trunk and Hip Flexion AF ROM
To asses: Lengnth of Gastrocs , Ham , Lower and Upper back extensor
Clients: Sit on floor - Knee extend- Bend forward from Hip to Touch Toes
Observe in Lateral View
Normal: touch toes with Fingertips with Pelvis in relatively neutral position with no Dorsiflex or Plantar flex - back contour is smooth
Shortness: of Gastroc=client cant touch toes due to Ankle plantaflexion
Shortness : of Ham=inability to touch toes
Excessive length: Ham is indicated= client reach past toesand exibit more Ant pelvic tilt
Shortness : lower back Extensor=cant touch toes - Lower spine remains Vertical
Excessive Length: lower back extensor by increase the curve of Lumbar area
Excessive lenth: upper back : increase curve of thorac
Functional or Structural Scoliosis test
Curve is Functional or structural
Client: Standing - behind Client observe any visible curve
Instruct Client too performAFROM spine in Lateral side bending on both sides and in Flexion
Positive Functional : if Lateral side bending if the curve is correct or reverse as client bend towards convex side
Positive Structural: Lateral bending is Asymmetrical
Scoliosis Small Hemiplevis test
To Asses : small Hemipelvis that contribute to a functional scoliosis
Client: Seated - place thin Book under lower side - correct the lateral pelvic tilt
Positive Functional : curve is neutralize
Scoliosis Short Leg Test
to asses: Short leg contribute to Functional scoliosis
Patient: standing- observe iliac crest - Ac joint level - place thin book under short leg correcting the pelvic tilt
Positive functional: curve neutralize
Motion Palpation of the Spine
To Asses: ROMof Spine identifying Hypo or Hypermobile segments
Client: standing - fingertips in Laminar groove - immediately to Spinous process superiorly
Instruct to: move slowly through flexion , extension, sidebending and Rotation
Positive: hypo- hypermobile segment that move one unit with leathery end feel
Perform: entire spine segment by segment
