How do you open WinRE
With a boot drive or the windows installation media and clicking repair your computer
WinRE has 5 Major options:
- System Restore
- Uninstall Updates
- System Image Recovery
- Startup Repair
- Command Prompt
System Restore (WinRE)
if you have a system restore point made that’s sitting on your system
WinRE System Image Recovery
If you’ve created a system image, you input the location and it’ll restore.
WinRE Startup Repair
looks at all your startup options, disables most of them and tries to get your system to run. (Not the best option.)
How do you get to the sartup Tools?
- System Configuration (Boot Options, Safe Boot)
- Settings > Recovery > Advanced Startup
- Boot Windows & Shut off machine as soon as you see the blue window and repeat 3x

Lists every single place something can be autostarting.
Corrupted Profile
You’re able to log in but you don’t actually reach the desktop. Microsoft tries to fix it automatically.

How might you try to repair a corrupted user account?
Create a new user account and copy old profile to try to recover from corrupted profile.
you can also restore if you’ve already created a restore point.
Kernel Panic
OS saying im about to die and pops up a single screen before it dies.
What is the primary cause of BSoD in Windows?
- Hardware
Services Failing to start
- Restart the service
- event viewer
- Google the sumbitch
Application crashes (6)
- application logs. Lockup unlikely to show in events, however.
- repair app. in uninstall applications
- delete app and try again / install
- Chkdsk
- System File Checker
- Apply updates (did you update windows)

- Go to task manager and look for process eating up excessive CPU space and kill tasks
