streaks
replace fuser (lazer)
replace cartridge or clean print head (ink jet/dot matrix)
faded
dot-matrix = adjust platen (paper feed)
ghost images left over
replace cleaning blade then erasure lamp
toner not fused to paper
replace fuser
creased paper
paper jam or replace pick up rollers
paper not feeding
replace pick up rollers (part of maintenance kit)
paper jam
- remove bits of paper throughout, fan paper (humidity), replace pick up rollers. Technician needed for replace: broken drive gears, static eliminator strip
no connectivity
secure cable, replace cable
Ping to see if it’s available, if so - check setting & driver
garbled characters
update driver
vertical black lines
scratches on drum = replace toner
or dirty corona wire = clean it
for ink jet = clean print head, replace ink cartridge
vert white lines
dirty transfer corona wire (part of toner cartridge) = clean w brush
backed up print queue
delete suspect print job
then stop and restart queue (deletes all)
low printer memory
turn off & on; print at lower res/make less complex; install diff driver; add more memory
access denied
ACL (access control list) - does user have permission? Check availability & priority settings
will not print
try test page. Connection issue - check cables, check the network for issues
wrong colour printed
clean print head; replace toner/cartridge, calibrate the cartridge
unable to install printer
permissions - use admin level account
blank pages
out of ink/toner; cloged nozzle (ink jet); sealant tape over toner cartridge?,
paper orientation
settings, tray set up? update driver
grinding
immediate off & unplug; check correct cartridges installed properly; clean rollers; update firmware
multiple prints pending
stop spooler, delete jobs in queue, restart printer. Check for driver updates.
speckling ink specks
replace the ink/toner cartridges, clean out debris
multi-page misfeed
too many pages when double-siding: clear jam, check for correct paper, orientation, feed rollers, etc. restart the print job
staples/hole punches (finishing issues)
clear/replace stapler cartridge; config hole punch in printer settings; instal new driver/reset printer
When the print quality is fuzzy or unclear, it is probably the result of using paper that is
damp
You should also suspect damp paper if the print rubs off easily from the paper or if areas of printed characters are missing or extremely light (spot deletions).
