  1. power off, flip over
  2. remove battery, screws
  3. remove RAM & hd covers
  4. Remove RAM, slide out hd
  5. disconnect cables, CD/DVD
  6. Remove keyboard & cables
  7. Remove fan, heatsink from CPU
  8. graphics adaptor? remove
  9. remove wireless adapter & peripherals in the way
  10. unscrew, remove, replace mboard
    *label screws & cables

memory effect and notebook computers

A

A notebook computer’s battery is affected by the memory effect. - Nickel Cadmium (NiCad) batteries remembers how full it was during its last use and will not charge beyond that level. Other notebook computer batteries do not have this problem.

If the battery will no longer charge properly
- verify that the physical connection is secure & plug snuggly fits
- drain the battery’s power
- replace the battery with a new one.

Intermittent wireless

A

= radio frequency interference (RFI) eg microwaves & cordless phones - keep router away
- research the frequency in use on your wireless network: have you deployed any devices that could be causing the problem?
- increase the signal strength on the wireless access point
- internal wireless card - internal cable connections for the wireless card last

Ghost cursor/pointer drift/touch calibration

track pad is too sensitive?
- change the sensitivity settings
- try installing the latest driver for the touch pad
- disable the touch pad and connect an external mouse
- Google Phantom Cursor to troubleshoot various devices

- recalibrated: update the drivers & use the device’s calibration software

- Read vendor documentation for function key combination that can be used to enable/disable wireless
- can also be disabled in Device Manager
- check the wireless card to make sure that it is seated properly and attached to the antenna

  • In extreme cases you may have to wipe and reboot your device.
  • Encrypting your device, clearing browsing history, and having strong passwords can help minimize the risks posed. You should also ensure that all devices have some sort of anti-malware software installed and running in the background.

To replace: power off the device and remove the battery. Then using a sharp blade, remove the glued down digitizer as well as remove any excess old glue. Then you can place the new digitizer and reassemble to battery

  • remove the liquid from the device/device from the liquid)
  • power down, remove the battery & send it for safe disposal
  • Next, remove the SIM card and check whether any of the liquid contact indicators have turned red. If they have, it is likely several components have become exposed and are likely to become corroded and will need to be thoroughly cleaned or replaced.
    Placing a mobile device overnight in a bowl of rice can sometimes help to remove the moisture.
