Troponin Flashcards

1
Q

Why does raised troponin occur in PE?

A

right ventric dilatation due to increased pulmonary vascular resistance due to obstruction from clot. Dilatation and hypokinesia of RV can lead to MI

Q

What is important to assess in cardiac exam for aortic dissection?

A

comparing radial pulses. If dissection more distal, only left subclavian might be affected and then left pulse absent/weak and left BP lower.
