Troponin Flashcards
1
Q
Why does raised troponin occur in PE?
A
right ventric dilatation due to increased pulmonary vascular resistance due to obstruction from clot. Dilatation and hypokinesia of RV can lead to MI
2
Q
Findings on ECG of PE?
A
RAD
RBBB
3
Q
Management of NSTEMI?
A
fondaparinux aspirin ticagrelor antiemetic nitrates oxygen morphine
4
Q
Differentials for raised troponin?
A
PE, MI, aortic dissection, anaemia (e.g. upper GI bleed, global hypoperfusion including cardiac myocytes)
5
Q
What is important to assess in cardiac exam for aortic dissection?
A
comparing radial pulses. If dissection more distal, only left subclavian might be affected and then left pulse absent/weak and left BP lower.
6
Q
What is the classification system for aortic dissection?
A
stanford type A and B
