What is the christian belief in the Triune God.
There are three persons in one God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all equal.
What is a creed?
A summary statement of beliefs.
‘Credo’ means ‘I believe’.
What is the Nicene Creed?
Because of confusion over who Jesus was a meeting was called in Nicea-to agree a statement that all Christians believe.
Who is God the Father?
He is the creator of all things.
He is the source of all life.
Who is God the Son?
We know God through Jesus.
Rose from the dead and ascended into heaven.
Who is God the Holy Spirit?
It gives life to all things.
It lives in every Christian. Gives them courage, comfort and guidance.
Trinity in Genesis
The word Trinity does not appear in the Bible, we do see the three parts (God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
We see the Trinity in the creation of the world in Genesis as:
The Father-Creates
The Holy Spirit-appears as wind
Son-appears as the ‘Word’
What is the Magisterium?
When the Pope and bishops of the church (the Magisterium) gather together to discuss a teaching, their decision is binding for all believers. Catholics believe the Magisterium is guided by the Holy Spirit.
The Magisterium is the official teaching body of the church.
Who is St. Augustine?
Augustine mainly focused on the relationship within the Trinity.

Catholics believe baptism symbolises:
A new stage of life as a Christian
The joining in with Jesus’ death and resurrection.
What is prayer?
Raising our hearts and minds to God. All prayer is offered to the Trinity.
The highest form of prayer for Christians is Jesus offering himself to the Father (Jesus) on the cross.
There are two types of prayer; what are they?
Traditional and spontaneous prayer.
What is traditional prayers?
Traditional prayers have set words that have been used by generations. Some people prefer them because they are familar to them.
