Trigeminal Neurolgia what is it?
A
- Facial pain that is involving spasms of the face
- Provoked by minimal stimulation
- Affects unilaterally

Causes
A
- Herpes
- compression of bvs
- infection of teeth and jaw

S/s
A
- Sharp knife like pain upeer and lower jaw and lips
- pain aggravated by eating
hot or cold drinking, face washing, teeth brushing
-Severe muscle spasm

A
- History
- Physical
- CT Scan
-EMG - MRI

Q
Tx for Trigeminal Neurologia
A
Drug therapy: Antileisure drugs (Carbamazepine) First line!
- Pain meds: Baclofen and lamotrigine
- Nerve blocking
- Rhizotomy
- Microvascular decompression (relocation)

Nursing Care
A
- Avoid triggers
- Avoid chewing on affect side
- Glycerol injection on affected side
- Room temp should be moderate
- Maintain hygiene and soft clothes
- Communication methods
