Trigeminal nerve Flashcards
1
Q
Describe the path of the ophthalmic nerve
A
- Branches before exiting superior orbital fissure
- Gives general sensation to orbit, eye, nasal cavity and forehead
2
Q
Where is the trigeminal ganglion found
A
Inside pterygopalatine fossa
3
Q
Where does the PSA, MSA and ASA originate
A
PSA - Branches from maxillary nerve (V2), near pterygopalatine fossa
ASA - A branch of the infraorbital nerve
MSA - Branch of the infraorbital nerve
4
Q
What does the posterior superior alveolar nerve supply
A
- Upper molars
- Buccal gingive around the upper molars
- Hard palate (upper)
5
Q
What does the medial superior alveolar nerve supply
A
- Upper pre-molars
- Buccal gingiva around the upper pre-molars
6
Q
What does the anterior superior alveolar nerve supply
A
- Maxillary incisors and canines
- Gingiva of maxillary incisors and canines (Labial gingivae)
7
Q
What does the infra-orbital nerve supply
A
Maxillary incisors, canines and pre-molars
(via its branches)
8
Q
What does the lesser palatine nerve supply
A
- Soft palate
- Travels through lesser palatine foramen
9
Q
What does the greater palatine supply
A
- Hard palate (posterior)
- Goes through the greater palatine foramen
10
Q
What does the nasopalatine nerve supply
A
- Hard palate (anterior)
- Palatal gingiva of anterior teeth
- Goes through incisive foramen
