Symptoms of Trichomonas vaginalis infection - ppl with penises and vaginas

A

In men:
- burning when peeing or ejaculating
- itching or irritation inside penis
- discharge

In women:
- asymptomatic
- dysuria
- vulvovaginitis aka itchiness/burning/soreness of genitals
- fishy smelling discharge (white/yellow/grey/green)

Dyuria
Vulvovaginitis (inflammation around vagina/vulva)
Discharge - frothy, yellow-grey, fishy
Abdominal pain

A

High vaginal swab from the posterior fornix
(MC and S not routine)
NAAT test - nucleic acid amplification test
Offer other STI tests, like chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV and syphilis
