What does the mnemonic stand for?

A

DR = Defined Risk - why are we doing a CTG?
C = Contractions
BRa = Baseline rate of baby’s HR
V = Variability
A = Acceleration
D = Deceleration
O = Overall impression

How can you tell the strength of the mother’s contractions?

A

You can’t tell via a CTG! That’s why you have to put your hand on the mum’s tummy and FEEL for contractions/hardening
