What are the sub-triangles of the anterior cervical triangle?
- The submental triangle
- The submandibular triangle
- The carotid triangle

What are the borders of the anterior triangle?
SCM, inferior border of mandible, imaginary midline
What are the borders of the muscular triangle?
SCM, superior belly of omohyoid, imaginary midline
What are the borders of the submandibular triangle?
Anterior and posterior bellies of digastric and mandible
What are the borders of the submental triangle ?
anterior belly of the digastric, imaginary midline, hyoid bone
What are the borders of the carotid triangle?
posterior belly of digastric, superior belly of omohyoid, SCM
What are the borders of the posterior triangle?
trapezius, SCM, part of the clavicle
What are the sub-triangles of the posterior triangle?
- The occipital triangle
2. The supraclavicular/subclavian triangle
What are the borders of the occipital triangle?
SCM, inferior belly of omohyoid, trapezius
What are the borders of the subclavian/supraclavicular triangle?
SCM, clavicle, inferior belly of omohyoid
What are the contents of the muscular triangle?
1. sternohyoid muscle 2 sternothyroid muscle 3. thyrohyoid muscle 4. the thyroid 5. parathyroid glands
What is in the submandibular triangle?
- submandibular gland
- submandibular lymph nodes
- facial artery and vein
- hypoglossal nerve
What is in the submental triangle?
- submental lymph nodes
What is in the carotid triangle?
- the carotid sheath which covers the internal jugular vein, common carotid artery, vagus nerve
- the hypoglossal nerve (occasionally loops superficially across the carotid triangle)
