Alto Adige grapes Rosso
Varietal Rosso: Wines must contain a min. 85% of the stated variety. Rosso varietal wines may be normale or riserva. Moscato Rosa may also be vendemmia tardiva or passito.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Lagrein, Malvasia, Merlot, Moscato Rosa, Pinot Nero, Schiava ("Schiava" refers to three distinct varieties, Schiava Grossa, Schiava Gentile, and Schiava Grigia.)
Dual-Varietal Wines: Rosso wines may be normale or riserva; Bianco wines may be passito or riserva. All Dual-variety wines must contain at least 15% of each stated variety. Passito: 7% (16% potential alcohol)
Varietal Bianco Wines:
Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon: 11.5%
Traminer Aromatico: 11% (11.5% potential alcohol)
Moscato Giallo: 10% (11% potential alcohol)
All Other White Grapes: 11%
Varietal Rosso Wines:
Cabernet, Lagrein, Malvasia, Pinot Nero: 11.5%
Merlot: 11%
Schiava: 10.5% (Schiava “Grigia” is 11.5%)
Moscato Rosa: 10% (12.5% potential alcohol, or 16% potential alcohol if “passito”)

Alto Adige Aging Requirements:
Riserva (Bianco and Rosso): Minimum 2 years, from October 1 of the harvest year.
Spumante: Wines must be aged on their lees for a min. 15 months prior to disgorgement, and may not be released until 20 months after October 1 of the harvest year.
Spumante Riserva: Wines must be aged on their lees for a min. 36 months prior to disgorgement, and may not be released until 42 months after October 1 of the harvest year.
Passito: Wines may not be sold before June 1 of the year following the harvest.
