Who were the Kora people?
-People who lived along the Gariep and were traders
-They had Guns and horses
-They were runaway slaves and a mix of Khoi-Khoi and Europeans
-They worked under the Dutch and spoke Dutch

-People who wore European-style clothes
-They were Khoi-Khoi slaves and European descendants
-They owned Cattle, Guns, Horses and Ox-Wagons
-They were the first group to settle North of the Gariep River the area was called Griqua land west
Who were missionaries?
People who spread Christianity
What did missionaries do/think when they arrived in the cape?
-They were against slavery and believed that Christian principles changed their lives
-They converted indigenous people as well as ex-slaves into Christians
-Many Khoi-Khoi went to live on the missionaries’ farms and learnt how to read as well as how to farm to make good money
