Where did the “Big Three” meet to discuss the terms of the Treaty of Versailles?
They met in the Palace of Versailles, in Versailles, France.

What conditions did David-Lloyd George of Britain want in the ToV?
He wanted to punish Germany harshly because of the war, and he wanted to get money from Germany, but he wanted Germany to be able to recover (trade).
What conditions did Georges Clemenceau of France want in the ToV?
He wanted to “crush” Germany as his country was the most affected during the war as well as being the most developed of the three. He wanted to prevent Germany from ever being able to be strong enough to become a major power, they were to pay massive reparations and he wanted Germany to have no army whatsoever.
What conditions did Woodrow Wilson of the USA want in the ToV?
He believed that the war was everyone’s fault as America was not really involved in the war, and he feared that if the treaty was too harsh, that Germany would want revenge.

- They must sign to agree that they had started WW1
- Germany was not allowed to have an airforce, submarines, tanks.
- Were allowed a small army of 100 000 soldiers as well as 6 battleships
- No German soldiers allowed in Rhineland which was situated near the French border.
- Germany must pay for the war in money and goods (reparations)
- Germany had to hand over colonies to Britain and France
- League of Nations was set up to discuss how to handle future conflict
- Germany was not allowed to unite with Austria (forbade Anschluss)
