Was the Treaty of Versailles fair?
Yes:
• removed land from places which weren’t German speaking (Polish corridor)
• basic economy was not destroyed
No: • wrong to blame all the war • punished the people not the rulers • nothing about war guilt + reparations in 14 points • aimed to destroy the economy
What was Germany’s reaction
- felt they did not start/ lose the war
- not a representative at Paris Peace Conference
- reparations would ruin the economy
- insulted that they were not asked to join LON
What were the disagreements among the Big Three?
Clemenceau + Wilson:
• resented generous attitude
Clemenceau + Lloyd-George:
• not to treat Germany harshly
Lloyd-George + Wilson:
• people ruling themselves

Clemenceau:
• harsh treatment on Germany as they had now been invaded by them twice
