What does WARTS stand for?

A

W - Warmth
A - ABCs (Airway, Breathing, Circulation)
R - Rest and Reassurance
T - Treatment
S - Semi-prone (AKA the Recovery position)

How do you tell if someone is in shock?

A

They have/are:
- pale, cool, and/or clammy skin;
- restless and weak;
- fearful and/or anxious;
- confused and disoriented;
- pulse is rapid but weak;
- breathing is rapid but shallow;
- lips and finger(nail)s are blue (cyanosis)

Why is it important to put (stable) unconscious people into the Recovery Position?

A

To prevent the tongue from slipping back into the throat and causing an airway obstruction.
