Kehrs sign
-shoulder pain from diaphragmatic irritation following trauma
1st, 2nd, 3rd degree burns
-1st - epidermis, erythema, no blister
-2nd - dermis, erythema, blister
3rd - demris, painless, white or chared around edges, surrounded by 2nd degree burn

Fluid - rule of nines
- Parland formula - how much fluid to give
- first half - give in 8hrs
- second half - 16hrs
- support urine output
- pain management, nutrition, electrolytes, rehab
- silver sulfadiazine and mafenide as prophylax against infection. In paediatric patient - take one of the 9s
Wallace’s Rule of Nines: head + neck = 9%, each arm = 9%, each anterior part of leg = 9%, each posterior part of leg = 9%, anterior chest = 9%, posterior chest = 9%, anterior abdomen = 9%, posterior abdomen = 9%
(kg x % burned, x 4) = fluid requirements
Burn categories
Superficial epidermal First degree Red and painful
Partial thickness (superficial dermal) Second degree Pale pink, painful, blistered
Partial thickness (deep dermal) Second degree Typically white but may have patches of non-blanching erythema. Reduced sensation
Full thickness Third degree White/brown/black in colour, no blisters, no pain
GCS
Eye opening (4) -spontaneous, speech, pain, none
Motor response (6) -obesy comands, localiszes pain, normal flexion, abnormal flexion, extension, none
Verbal response (5) -orientated, confused, inapporpiate words, incomprehensible sounds, none
Battles sign
- haemotypmpanum
- basel skull fracture- bleeding behind the ear
