transportation in plants and animals Flashcards
What is blood?
Blood is the fluid which flows in blood vessels. It transports necessary substances needed by the body like nutrients oxygen digested food etc. It also takes the waste substances produced by our body to excretory organs for removal from the body.
How many components are there in blood?
4
What are the components of blood?
1) RBC
2) WBC
3) Plasma
4) Platelets
Write the function of RBC WBC and platelets
1) RBC- RBC (red blood cells) or erthocytes has hameoglobin (red protien) or pigment which binds with oxygen and transport it to all parts of the body.
2) WBC- WBS (white blood cells) or leukocytes are the soldiers of the body. They are involved in our immune system. They help fight us against diseases germs etc.
3) Platelets- Platelets or thrombocytes helps in clotting of blood whenever there is a wound or a cut.
What is the role of plasma in our body?
Plasma carries nutrients, digested, hormones, proteins, waste products, and blood cells throughout the body.
What is the fluid part of blood?
Plasma
Why the is the colour of blood red?
Hameoglobin which is a red pigment present in red blood cells makes the blood look red.
What is the role of blood vessels?
Blood vessels are the tube like pipes which are press=ent all over the body in which blood flows which carries nutrients oxygent etc. also waste products for removal.
What are arteries and viens.?
Arteries are the blood vessels which carry oxgentated blood from heart to all parts of the body. Vins carry deoxygentated blood from all the parts of the body back to the heart.
Why does arteries have thick elastic walls?
The blood flow in arteries is rapid and at high pressure due to which arteries have thick elastic walls.
Why does veins have valves?
Viens have walls as the blood that flows in it is deoxygentated and to make it flow only in one direction viens have valves.
What are capillaries?
Capillaries are the thinest blood vessels in our body. They are the network of arteries and viens. The capillaries join up to form veins which empty into the heart. They are responsible for the exchange of gases, nutrients and waste products between the blood and surrounding tissues.
What is pulse rate?
Pulse rate is the number of times heart beates in a mintue, it is also calles heart rate.
What is the function of heart?
Heart is an organ which acts as a pump of the body for the transportation of blood which has many neccesary material in it.
What is heart beat?
The rythmic contraction and relaxation of the walls of the heart constitutes a heartbeat.
