Translation-second Stage Or Protein Synthesis Flashcards
1
mRNA attaches to ribosome and transfers tRNA molecules
2
tRNA has an anticodon complementary to the start codon
tRNA then attaches to the mRNA by complementary base pairing
3
Second tRNA molecule attaches itself to the next codon on the mRNA
4
Ribosomal RNA forms peptide bonds between the two amino acids attaches to the tRNA molecule
The first tRNA molecule then moves away leaving its amino acid
5
The third tRNA molecule binds to the next code on on the mRNA
It’s amino acid binds to the first 2 and the second tRNA molecule moves away
6
This process continues forming a chain of amino acids called a polypeptide chain until there’s a stop codon
7
Stop codon, polypeptide chain moves away from the ribosome and translation is complete
