What is a transformer?
A
A transformer is a device which is used to step up or step down alternating voltage.

What is the mathematical relationship between the number of turns on secondary and primary coils and the secondary and primary voltages?
A
Ns/ Np = Vs/Vp

How would you describe the dependency of voltage on the number of turns?
A
Voltage increases with increasing number of turns, and decreases for decreasing number of turns.
This means for a step down transformer, voltage is reduced in the secondary arm.
