What are the symptoms of the lateral medullary syndrome?

Why?

A
  • Vertigo (Vestibular nucleus)
  • Ipsilateral cerebellar ataxia
  • Ipsilateral loss of pain/thermal sense (face) (
  • Horner’s syndrome (sympathetic tract)
  • Hoarseness, difficulty in swallowing (nucleus ambiguous)
  • Contralateral loss of pain/thermal sense (trunk and limbs) (spinothalamic tract)
