General rules for Transcription
When unsure of a word, do not substitute, earmark and return
Never make edits in such a way that changes content/meaning of what is being said without first consulting attorney
Know punctuation rules, but still do not edit attorney’s use of punctuation without first consulting them
Maintain list of correct spelling for words you have trouble with or must repeatedly spell
Refer to client file to verify information in transcript
Prioritize projects
Make notes of special instructions included with dictation such as enclosures, copies, and related tasks
Assume responsibility for the accuracy of your work product’s grammar
