what are training programs?
they are programs designed to help improve the athlete’s ability in specific sports or areas of sport.
what are the three main phases of a training program?
warm up
main set
cool down
what is a warm up
Prepares your body physically and mentally
Increases body temperature
Distributes blood flow to working muscles
Prepares the body for sports specific movements
what is the main set
Your main set should reflect the fitness components need in your sport. Main sets can be split into different fitness components, skills and tactical sessions.
what is a cool down
Slowly decreases breathing rate and heart rate
Helps to slowly decrease intensity to help redistribute blood flow to organs
Provides a good time to trigger point trained muscles on the foam roller
New research states stretching is not beneficial after speed and strength training
