what are training methods
training methods are methods suited for different sports or activities depending on the end goal. Each training method improves the different aspects of an athlete’s performance.
circuit training
Exercises at various ‘stations’ for a set period of time/repetitions before moving to the next station
1 min plank -20BW squats-10 jump lunges - 3 min run - 10 burpees - 1 min wall sit
continuous training
Working at same intensity for a set amount of time
5km run
interval training
Work intervals followed by rest intervals
5 x 40m print - 2 min recovery between each sprint
fartlek training
Intensity/pace is consistently altered
Jog bends/sprint straights of 400m track
resistance training
Used to develop muscular strength, power of endurance by using weights, bands or body weight
10 x 5kg bicep curl
plyometric training
Designed to improve explosive muscular power, involves doing exercise which allows lengthening of a muscle followed by a fast, forceful contradiction of the muscle
Box jumps
flexibility training
Used to improve he movement capabilities and range of motion of joints and muscles
Yoga, stretch mobility sessions
