What are training methods?
-types of training that can be included in training programs.
-chosen depending on which component have been identified through analysis of game, sport, fitness.
Resistance training
-Weight training
eg. Pushing or pulling weights
-develops muscular strength, power and endurance.
Interval training
-interval training followed by intervals of rest.
-develops aerobic power and speed
eg. 2 x 800m followed by 5min jog.
dynamic vs static stretches
-dynamic are best before workouts
-static are best after workouts
flexability
-improve joint and muscle flexibility
-improves stretching exercises
circuit training
-series of exercises arranged to develop health and sport related outcomes
-develop muscular strength, power, endurance, agility
aerobic floor exercises
aerobic exercises continuously for a period of time, usually to music
-develop aerobic power, muscular strength and endurance
Swiss ball training
exercises with Swiss ball
-develop strength, balance and flexibility
Plyometric training
-exercises involving rapid lengthening followed by rapid shortening
Eg. Vertical jumps
-develops muscular power
intimidate Interval
develops speed
Eg 10x 100m with 45sec recovery
continuous training
-continuous activity
-running, swimming, cycling
-m/pH 70-85% fir at least 20mins
short interval
-develops speed over short distances of less than 100m
Eg. 10 x 20m with 20sec recovery
