Tank characteristics
- Elliptical Shaped Tank Ends

- Aluminum and are the thickest 3/16” on the bottom and gradually gets thinner.
- Plumbing & Valves for off-roading under tank
- Vapor recovery on right rear of tank ( not on all vehicles)
- Manhole & vapor recovery valves on top
What are Baffles used for?
- Baffles are primarily used for strength.
- Double bulkheads may be illegally plugged due to leaks
- Do not remove plug: up tp 200 gallons of product may mix
- If suspected in void space, Haz Mat TF will drill & pump compartment.
What are Vapor compartments used for?
- Allow for expansion
- Located on top & has reinforce rail that runs the length of the tank in cause of accidents — particularly rollovers
What type of exterior piping is constructed and engineered to fall upon impact?

- Constructed with built-in shear points
- Engineered to fall upon impact, before damage can occur to internal valves and plumbing.
