Training and Development Flashcards
Training vs Development:
Training: Tends to be narrowly focused and oriented towards short-term performance concerns
Development: Effort oriented towards broadening an individual’s skill for future responsibilities
What are the four phases of training?
1- conducting needs assessment
2- Designing the training program
3-Implementing the training program
4-Evaluating the training program
What are the three types of analysis needed for phase 1(Conducting need assessment)
Organizational analysis, task analysis, person analysis
4 things to work on in phase 2 (Designing the training program)

What are the principles of learning?
MMIGWAMF
M-Meaningfulness
M-Modeling
I-Individual learning differences
G-Goal setting
W-Whole learning

M-Massed learning
F-Feed back
4 things to acknowledge in phase 3 (Implementing the training program)
1-Nature of training
2-type of training
3-Organizational extent of learning
4-Importance of training outcome
On the job training and PROPER
OJt =Method by which employees are given
hands-on experience with instructions from
their supervisor or other trainer

4 Criterion in phase 4 (Evaluating the training program)
1-Participant reaction
2-Checking if actually learned
3-Their behaviour
4-Results
ROI
Return on investment
- If the ROI ratio is >1, the
benefits of the training
exceed the cost of the
program. - If the ROI ratio is <1, the
costs of the training
exceed
the benefits.
4 Organization-wide training programs:
1-Orienting(familiarizing) and onboarding(systematic socialize)
2-basic skill training
3-team and cross training(multi-job)
4-Ethics training
