Occupational injury vs occupational illness:
Occupational injury: Any cut, fracture, sprain, or amputation resulting from a workplace accident or from an exposure involving an accident in the work environment
Occupational illness:Any abnormal condition or disorder, other than one resulting from an occupational injury, caused
by exposure to environmental factors associated with
employment
How to create a safe working environment:
-Promote safety awareness
-Enforce safety rules
-Investigating and reporting incidents
Incidence rate: Number of injuries and illnesses × 200,000/
Total hours worked by all employees during the period covered
4 types of stress:
Stress: Any adjustive demand caused by physical, mental,
or emotional factors that require coping behaviour
Eustress:Positive stress that accompanies achievement and
exhilaration
Distress:Harmful stress characterized by a loss of feelings
of security and adequacy
Burnout:The most severe stage of distress
