induction training is
e.g lunch times and area, fire escape, health and safety. in duction training is offered to new employees when they join an organisation
on-the-job training
is training that is undertaken in their place of work
- coaching : experienced member of staff will work through a task step by step with the employee
- job rotation : rotated or moved through different jobs within the organisation so the get a range of skills
off-the-job training
training that is taken place outside the place of work e.g college or training
can also be e-learning
disadvantages of on-the-job training
pick up bad habits
productivity decreases
disadvantages of off-the-job training
cost of external training courses may be high
productivity decreases due to time away from their job
employees may learn skills that are not relevant to the business
advantages of off-the-job training
higher quality training as usually delivered by experts
higher levels of concentration as less distractions
