MET - ERECTOR SPINAE - PRONE
Pt prone
Cross hand contact and hold into muscles and slide
Pt pulls head up for duration to resist against hands
When pt releases resistance, they push head down and when they breathe out you slide down more
To increase flexion you can drop the front of the couch a dew degrees
MET - QUADRATUS LUMBORUM - SUPINE
Pt supine
Pt with straight legs, bring legs off the side of table
Bring the arm on the side that the legs are bent to under the armpit
Side bend pt body towards the side that the legs are
Pt tries to straighten body (go back to a neutral position from the side bend)
Resist
Relax and pt breathe
MET - PSOAS (SCISSOR) - SUPINE
Pt supine
Pt lies off the end of the could
Stand to the side with one of pt feet on my ribs (to relax psoas)
Target knee flexes up and you push it down/hold the resistance down whilst the pt aims to push the knee up to the ceiling
When pt relaxes, push down to the floor and bend the leg on the ribs more
be careful of their lumbar spine in this position
MET - PSOAS - PRONE
Pt prone
Lift pt knee up while fixing on their pelvis
Can flatten their lumbar spine by putting a pillow under their hips
Lift leg up while pt is trying to push it down
Lift leg up more to stretch
MET - WHOLE SPINE - SEATED
Pt seated with arms crosses
Stand behind the pt
Rotate the spine
Pt tries to rotate back to neutral
Pt relaxes and take them to the new barrier
MET - RIBS - SIDE LYING
Pt side lying
Pt hugs themselves
Hold under and on top of pt crossed arms
Rotate them
Pt derotates themselves
Relax and bring to new barrier by adding more rotation
MET - 1ST RIB - SEATED
Pt seated
Abduct pt arm (can be done by putting your leg on the bed and resting their arm on your knee)
Pull the upper traps posteriorly to get them out of the way
Place thumb onto 1st rib and bring opposite hand on top of pt head with elbow on shoulder
Push straight down onto 1st rib
Pt laterally flex to the same side you are pushing the rib
Pt relax and you stop pushing on the rib as they breathe in and on the out breathe push down again
done when pt has an elevated 1st rib
