The Dispatch Academy provides study of the civil AND criminal laws of the State of Nevada, Clark County, and the City of Las Vegas as it applies to the law enforcement mission.
What are IDF codes?
INCIDENT/DISPOSITION/FUNCTION CODES
These are the codes (400-codes) that are used by The Department to describe or define a particular crime or incident.
What aspects of Geography are taught in the Dispatch Academy?
geographical layout of Clark County, street and block numbers, and the LVMPD Sector Beat layout
What is a Resident Officer?
A resident officer is one that is assigned to an outlying urban area of Clark County. Including Laughlin, Searchlight, and Mt. Charleston.
What is Concurrent Jurisdiction?
The LVMPD has jurisdiction over Clark County however several other agencies share jurisdiction over portions of the county. Excluding federal agencies, LVMPD shares jurisdiction with the City of North Las Vegas, the City of Henderson, and the Las Vegas City Marshalls.
Define Call Screening.
Call screening is the use of knowledge in laws/guidelines to both solicit information and determine the appropriate course of action.
Note: Call Screening is later used to refer to the process by which an area dispatcher is directed by a watch commander to only dispatch calls of a certain severity in order to maintain resource availability.
What is Differential Response
Procedures/criteria to determine if a report or incident can be handled by a means other than officer response.
What is Event Preperation
procedures to enter an event into CAD using appropriate abbreviations, police terminology, and phraseology.
What is RCP?
Response Category Profile.
The guidelines how many & which officers to send to particular situations.
What is Priority?
Priority is the numerical value assigned to a call by a dispatcher to facilitate the sorting of calls by priority for police response
- (0 thru 6 but commonly only 0 thru 2)
Define the Priority 0 (zero) call category.
A Priority 0 Call is when an immediate urgent response is requested by the nearest police unit regardless of current assignment.
Examples: Robbery in Progress Hostage Situation Officer Needs Help Subject Shot or Stabbed
Define the Priority 1 call category.
A Priority 1 call is a call where the response of a police unit would probably prevent a more serious situation from developing, or where there has been violence or threat of a serious nature.
Examples: Family Disturbance Tenant/Landlord Disturbance Suspicious Vehilce Traffic Accident
Define the Priority 2 call category.
A Priority 2 Call is a call where no urgent or immediate response is required.
Example:
Burglary where the suspect is gone
A stolen vehicle report which occurred over the night.

Data stored in each of the LVMPD criminal justice systems must be protected to ensure correct, legal, and efficient dissemination and use. Any unauthorized request, receipt, or dissemination of this material could result in civil and/or criminal proceedings against the individuals and/or agency and the imposition of sanctions against the agency. Pursuant to Nevada Revised Statutes, personal information (i.e. information which reveals the identify of a person, including photograph, social security number, driver=s license number, ID card number, name, address, telephone number, or information regarding a medical condition or disability) is considered confidential information.
