An NGO is a Non-Governmental Organisation and these organisations focus on issues of social injustice and human rights. They are independent from the government and are not for profit organisations meaning they usually rely on public donations for funding and volunteers who believe in their cause.

What are the aims of NGOS ?

In general NGOs aim to :
- Bring about change which will improve people’s quality of life
- Encourage individuals, groups and businesses to be more socially responsible
- Influence powerful decision makers to bring about change - politicians, local councillors, governments and departments
