Why did the USSR invade Hungary?

A

They did this because they wanted to make sure that it was kept under communist control. If it was capitalist then a hole in the buffer zone would be created. There is then a security risk. Hungary is a example that communism is ideology through countries and should not be changed.

Why was there a revolution in Hungary Nov 1956?

A

Lack of Cultural Freedom- the government controlled film,radio,press,art and literature. Children were taught the communism version of everything
Rule by Fear- AVO secret police was created and people hated it
Poor Standards of living- There were food shortages due to collective farming in Russia.
Presence of Soviet Troops- people felt uncomfortable all the time and the soldiers presence made people feel like WW2 again.
