Define Rules
Agreed terms that govern the sport - includes what is allowed and what is not allowed during performance.
What are roles?
Roles are tasks that allow a sport to be played eg match officials/judges. Incudes playing roles such as captain or vice captain.
What are rituals?
actions that are carried out each time an athlete performs eg the same warm up before competition.
What are conventions?
Ways of behaving that are considered polite in sport. Not written into the rules but considered part of the sport eg shaking hands after a game or clapping an injured player off the field.
List 10 roles/attributes that the coach has/performs in modern sport.
List 6 roles/duties that a referee/official carries out during a game.
Match officals come under pressure during games. List 4 sources of this pressure.

List 6 strategies used by officials to minimise conflict during competition.
Prevention - set your standards of acceptability early in the event.
Make eye contact when talking
Be definitive with language and decision. Wavering will be seen as weakness and encourage more challlenges.
Wear appropriate attire for the activity and look smart.
Be consistent and firm with gestures and decisions eg appropriate whistle tone for gravity of offences
Allow time for a participant to cool down and maintain an even tone when addressing players.
