Q

Some metals react slowly with water so instead we can use acid. Metal + acid = M.A.S.H

Q

What happens to aluminium in acid

A

In acid nothing happens for at least five mins. Then bubbles of gas appeared and the aluminium tuned dark grey.

Q

Why was your observations with aluminium surprising

A

Aluminium is high up the reactivity series but it took quite a while for the aluminium to react with the acid

Q

Why does aluminium resist corrosion ?

A

A proactive layer of aluminium oxide on its surface is placed . Aluminium resists corrosion as it forms a protective oxide layer on its surface and this protects the aluminium.
