Q

What is radiation?

A

The only way in which energy can be transferred through a vacuum. Infrared radiation can aslo pass through gasses and some solids.

Q

Why is nuclear energy not the future?

A

It may not emit any carbon dioxide or other gasses but the waste it produces is radioactive and can stay radioactive for millions of years. This is very expesnsive to dispose safely.

16
Q

Negatives of wind turbines.

A

Quite weak and can spoil the landscape.

17
Q

Negatives of tidal power.

A

Predictable but not available all the time. It can also affect birds and other wildlife.

18
Q

Negatives of biofuels.

A

Carbon neutral as when they burn they release same amount of CO2 they took however energy is needed to grow and harvest the crops(made from animal waste and plants so similar to fossil fuels).

19
Q

Why are aolar cells not 100 percent efficient?

A

Some is reflected, transmitted or absorbed.

20
Q

What is electrical energy measured in?

A

Kilowatt-hours.

21
Q

What are two ways of reducing unwanted energy transfers?

A

Lubrication and insulation.
