Topic 3 and 4 Vocabulary Flashcards
Analytics
the systematic computational analysis of data or statistics. It is used for the discovery, interpretation, and communication of meaningful patterns in data. It also entails applying data patterns towards effective decision-making.
Costumer Relationship Management (CRM)
is a strategy used to learn more about customers’ behaviors in order to develop stronger relationships; CRM is a process to better understand customers’ need, using technology.
Data Analysis
is a process of inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modelling data with the goal of discovering useful information, informing conclusions, and supporting decision-making.
Enterprise Application
Large and complex systems that serve multiple mission-critical business needs.
Data Trail
the growing amount of personal information that is generated through our digital behavior and recorded by the increasing use of different digital services, systems, and tools.
Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS)
Combine human resources functions into one packaged software, including: Benefits administration, Payroll, Recruiting, Training, Performance analysis, and Review
Internet of Things (IoT)
describes physical objects that are embedded with sensors, processing ability, software, and other technologies that connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over the Internet or other communications networks.
Legacy System
is an old method, technology, computer system, or application program, “of, relating to, or being a previous or outdated computer system,” yet still in use. Often referencing a system as “legacy” means that it paved the way for the standards that would follow it.
Low Code
Uses graphical tools and some coding to create applications. is often used by IT professionals, but can also be used by business users with some coding skills.
No Code
Uses visual tools to create applications without any coding. is often used by business users without any coding skills.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
is tightly integrated software used to automate back office functions in a single management information system; software processes and stores data so that all: departments, functions, regions, business units can share information.
Enterprise Applications
are large and complex systems that serve multiple mission-critical business needs.
Supply Chain Management (SCM)
is the management of the flow of goods and services. It includes the movement and storage of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods from point of origin to point of consumption.
Blockchain
is a shared, immutable ledger that facilitates the process of recording transactions and tracking assets in a business network. An asset can be tangible (a house, car, cash, land) or intangible (intellectual property, patents, copyrights, branding). Virtually anything of value can be tracked and traded on a blockchain network, reducing risk and cutting costs for all involved.
Machine Learning
is the study of computer algorithms that can improve automatically through experience and by the use of data. It is seen as a part of artificial intelligence.
Cloud Infrastructure
is the delivery of computing services—including servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence over the Internet.
Globalization
is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment and aided by information technology.
Big Data
is a field that treats ways to analyze, systematically extract information from, or otherwise deal with data sets that are too large or complex to be dealt with by traditional data-processing application software.
Database Architecture
is composed of models, policies, rules or standards that govern which data is collected, and how it is stored, arranged, integrated, and put to use in data systems and in organizations.
Scalability
the measure of a system’s ability to increase or decrease in performance and cost in response to changes in application and system processing demands.
