1.** Carter Doctrin Jan 1980 **
-Threated force if SU attempeted to take control of Persian Gulf
-US ecomic sanctions (No trade with SU)=> no import of grain or export of oil.
-USA + Saudi Arabia + Pakistan ( it’s allies) assist Mujahidennen ( ant SU malitants) => proxy war
-No US SU co-opertion but confruntation
=> Electiuon of Regan who wanted to be even tougher on the SU
2.End of SALT 2
- 1980 USA brock off diplomatic relations with US senate dosn’t sign SALT 2
- US begin to buil convetiona nuclear weapns + develpment pershing missile for deployment in Europe
- SU build meduim range missiles=> SS20
=> speedign up of arms race again!!
3. Olympic boycotts
-USA + 60 other countrys boycott 1980 games in Moscow in retaliation for invation ( USA thretaned althelets if they whent passports would be taken? => huge infulence of USA
- in responce SU boycott 1984 Los Angeles games + 15 other countrys
=> co-operation= all time low
