* No futher production of strategic ballistic weapons ( short range light weight missiles)
* No increase in number of intercontinaltal ballistic weapons (ICBMs)- new ones can be added to replace old ones
* No nuclear missile launchers New submarines could launch nuclear weapons (SLBMs) only replacments for exsisting missile lauchers
* Anti-Ballistic missles (ABM) Treat limit both sides to 2 ABM deployment areas

• WGerman politcians oppose treaty thought it would weaken it’s defence, though it mean US are less likly to use force in a SU attack
• US politicans thought too may consetions were made
• Senit never approved the bill because of the invastion of Afganistant

Political preasure- Onging SU agression = public deamnd stronger stance/attack. Jimmy Catter Elelcted on that mandate e.g. not signing slat 2 due to 1979 SU invation
