Q

Topic 25: Papillomaviridea

A

Papillomaviridea (Papilla=wart, oma=tumor):

  • Genus: papillomavirus.
  • Morphology: Circular dsDNA, superhelical.
  • Resistance: STRONG.
  • Biological properties:
    Baltimore I.
    Oncogenic – Benignant tumors.
  • Antigenic properties:
Good antigen (hidden from immune system)  auto vaccines.
    No cross-reaction.
  • Diagnosis (Clinical signs, IF, EM):
    Equine – head and nose.
Bovine – neck back and body.

Topic 25: Adenoviridea (adenos – adenoid gland):

A

Adenoviridea (adenos – adenoid gland):

  • Genera: Mastadeno-, Aviadeno-, Atadeno, and Siadenovirus.
  • Morphology: Linear dsDNA, no envelope.
  • Biological properties:
    Baltimore I.
    Oncogenic – apoptosis inhibition.
  • Antigenic properties:
    Good antigens.
    Cross-reaction.
  • Diagnosis: Isolation –
    I) Mastadenovirus:
    Pneumoenteritis of calves and lamb.

II) Aviadenovirus:
Inclusion body hepatitis, gizzard eruption.
Symptoms - Jaundice and anemia.

III) Atadenovirus:
Pneumoenteritis of calves, EDS.

Pneumoenteritis:
Inflammation of the lungs and intestine.

IV) Siadenovirus:
