Topic 25: Papillomaviridea, Polyomaviridea, Adenoviridea Flashcards
Topic 25: Papillomaviridea
Papillomaviridea (Papilla=wart, oma=tumor):
- Genus: papillomavirus.
- Morphology: Circular dsDNA, superhelical.
- Resistance: STRONG.
- Biological properties:
Baltimore I.
Oncogenic – Benignant tumors. - Antigenic properties:
Good antigen (hidden from immune system) auto vaccines.
No cross-reaction. - Diagnosis (Clinical signs, IF, EM):
Equine – head and nose.
Bovine – neck back and body.
Topic 25: Polyomaviridea
Polyomaviridea
(Poly=many, oma=tumor)
- Genus: Polyomavirus.
- Morphology: Circular dsDNA, superhelical.
- Resistance: STRONG.
* Biological properties: Baltimore I. Oncogenic – SV40 model virus. Airborne. Microtumors in cell culture.
Topic 25: Adenoviridea (adenos – adenoid gland):
Adenoviridea (adenos – adenoid gland):
- Genera: Mastadeno-, Aviadeno-, Atadeno, and Siadenovirus.
- Morphology: Linear dsDNA, no envelope.
- Biological properties:
Baltimore I.
Oncogenic – apoptosis inhibition. - Antigenic properties:
Good antigens.
Cross-reaction. - Diagnosis: Isolation –
I) Mastadenovirus:
Pneumoenteritis of calves and lamb.
II) Aviadenovirus:
Inclusion body hepatitis, gizzard eruption.
Symptoms - Jaundice and anemia.
III) Atadenovirus:
Pneumoenteritis of calves, EDS.
Pneumoenteritis:
Inflammation of the lungs and intestine.
IV) Siadenovirus:
Frog adenovidus.
