leadership
is a solution to the problem of collective effort, the problem of bringing people together and combining their efforts to promote success and survival.
authentic leadership
pattern of transparent and ethical leader behavior that encourages openness in sharing information needed to make decisions while accepting followers’ inputs.
transformational leadership
leader behaviors that transform and inspire followers to perform beyond expectations while transcending self-interest for the good of the organization.

demonstration of normatively appropriate conduct through personal actions and interpersonal relationships, and the promotion of such conduct to followers.

contigency approach (leadership)
the effectiveness of leadership is affected by the situation or context. According to this theory, someone can be an effective leader in one circumstance and an ineffective leader in another
new leadership approach
charismatics or transformational leadership and says that leaders need vision and inspire loyalty and emotional attachment. focuses on elevating the voice of employees in problem resolution over authoritative approaches.
self-concept
refers to the evaluations one makes of oneself as well as self beliefs.
transactional leadership
leadership largely based on the exchange of rewards contingent on performance.
prototypicality
followers may be more drawn to leaders who are exemplars of groups they belong to or want to join.
new-genre leadership
leadership emphasizing charismatic leader behavior, visionary, inspiring, ideological and moral values, as well as transformational leadership such as individualized attention, and intellectual stimulation.
complexity leadership theory
leadership is viewed as an interactive system of dynamic unpredictable agents that interact with each other in complex feedback networks, which can then produce adaptive outcomes such as knowledge dissemination, learning, innovation, and further adaptation to change.
