A reaction against a heavy-handed crackdown on the Khilafat Movement
What was the result of the 1921 Moplah/Malabar rebellion?
ended up as large-scale massacre and persecution of Hindus.
What was the 1922 Chauri Chaura incident?
February 1922 - Congress procession of 3000 peasants was fired upon by the police.
Police station burnt down causing the death of 22 policemen.
What were the consequences of the 1922 Chauri Chaura incident?
The Congress Working Committee passed a resolution stopping all activities which would lead to breaking of laws.
The Government arrested Mahatma Gandhi and charged him with spreading disaffection against the government.
